DJ Jazzy Jeff in a recent interview talks about how the DJ industry has changed and its declining culture. He explains that the scenario has changed so much that these days someone playing The Billboard Top 40 latest hits from his laptop can get hired as a DJ for a night. The crux of the interview is where DJ Jeff says he's scared to advice up-coming DJ's today because 10 years ago in the DJ'ing industry most DJ's were known for their unique style of playing music but today every DJ plays the same music it's hard to tell them apart. His advice to new DJ's is, "Do what's in your heart, do what you do best, and try to be as different as you can."

DJ Jazzy Jeff knows what he's talking about, he was one half of the famous duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince in the 80's. As a duo they they have had several gold and platinum selling albums and hit singles that earned them their first rap Grammy award in 1989 for Parent Just Don't Understand. In the interview he also talks about controversies where he got booted from the decks at a DJ AM tribute. He said halfway through the event he realized the promoters didn't want him to play any DJ AM songs. About being booted off he says, "That's like asking you to play a Tupac tribute and you can't play Tupac records." Click here to read the full interview.
