Apple has confirmed that it's latest iGizmo on the block--the iPad, will be making it's debut in Best-Buy retail stores around the U.S. starting April 3rd.
Some have questioned the true innovative value of the iPad and whether it's a breakthrough device like it's predecessors, the iPod and the iPhone, or just a super-sized iPhone with a different name. Let's assume the latter is the case for a second. It still means several iPhone apps such as the iPj app -- an app created for Djs, could make the transition to super-size status as they are modified to work on the iPad. Infact according to Gizmodo the first of such applications -- Mixr, a fully-featured, multitouch DJ app is already available on the iPad.
So let's do a little math here. Already current versions of iPhone apps such as iPj come with several features that make them a viable contender for replacing the DJ equipment of the day. Add that to the fact that you can find many DJ's these days using their macbooks in the booth and you have the iPad--with it's increased mixture of portability and accesibility--in a position where it could be a serious contender for replacing many a DJ equipment in the DJ booth.
