nobel peace prizeDec 10th - For one special good boy or girl on this day, Christmas may still be on December 25th, but the week of December 10th is definitely the best week ever! The Nobel Peace Prize award was instituted by the Swedish inventor and industrialist -- Alfred Nobel. According to the...well noble words of his will, the award should be given "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

The award is presented in Norway on December 10th every year in the presence of the King. The winner gets a diploma, a medal and a document confirming the prize amount. When was the last time you had a medal stuffed in your stocking by jolly 'ol Santa?
