As Fashion Director for Fashion Fights Poverty, it is my job to understand the eco and ethical fashion world. Although these fabrics have been around for a few years, I came across them today in talks with a potential designer. In doing some research, I found that these fabrics are bio-based fiber which means their creation doesn't involve the exploitation of the environment in its production and they are biodegradable. Modal and Bamberg have been described as "they look like [silk] chiffon, [but are] super-sophisticated." While Ingeo (which literally means "ingredients from the earth") on the other hand, is the world's first commercially viable synthetic fiber derived entirely from renewable resources.

As of July 31, JCPenny will officially give Macy's something to worry about! They are opening a flagship store a block from Macy's in midtown Manhattan.

I have to admit I am super excited!! I know JCP has a reputation of being unfashionable and not always of the best quality, however, I think they have some amazing finds and incredible deals. Have you been to any of their holiday sales events??? Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see what they carry, what the pricepoint will be, and how rival department store Macy's will handle it.

After a short hiatus I am back!! During my time off I had a thought, summer  has been ferocious this year and as such our fashion should reflect the heat, intensity and fun! These ladies are definitley working the short, fun, and flirty summer look! As you can see, it is suitable for day AND night.

Fashion lovers: If you are in Washington, DC on Saturday, July 18, 2009 attend the first ever fashion swap!

It is obvious that these two women share more than just a mutual respect, they also share a similar fashion sense...at least at this event. My blog "White is the New Black" showed the different ways of wearing white.

These ladies definitely showcase two different but similar approaches to wearing white....

In doing some additional research, I found this is not the first time they have dressed similarly during events they both attend. I wonder if they coordinate :)

I saw Miley Cyrus in this dress at the MTV Movie awards and it had me thinking, is a 16 year old enough to wear a dress that has a flowly bust line, low cut back and side? Maybe I'm old fashioned but her fashion choices are a little to grown up for me...

My initial thought when I looked at this was "oooh too much" but on second, third, and fourth look, I absolutely LOVE! I know, I know, I feel like I say that with everything! haha ... Anway, I would totally rock an outfit like this any day of the week to any event!

The RenéeQ Bespoke line is a refreshingly cool collection of tees that combine African fabric with cotton tees. The concept is innovative and the designs are fun and unique. It appears that no two designs or tees are the same, which for a fashion lover like myself is the best thing ever!

As much as I appreciate this trend, my thighs will not allow me to wear them. :) I love this look however because it's short shorts done adult-style. It's sophisticated, polished and appropriate for a lot of events.

In addition to fashion, hair is another way one can show their individuality and style. Halle Berry and Cassie show two completely different & opposite sides of the spectrum. I absolutely LOVE Halle's cut. For the longest time a few years ago this was her signature look. I am so glad she has returned to it! With Cassie's look on the other hand, I really dont get it. I understand the need to be different but I am not sure if this is the way to go...
