SJP Goes to Washington (DC)...Sort Of

by Svelte on Aug 26, 2009 18:43   1  Comments   Share

Have you heard that Sarah Jessica Parker's production company Pretty Matches is producing a new HBO Comedy series "The Washingtonienne, an HBO comedy series about the lives of three 20-something women working on Capital Hill?" Story is based on Jessica Cutler's naughty novel of the same title. While I don't know how literal the series will be to the book, it will be interesting to see if DC becomes the new "city" in Sex and the City. Pilot was shot last November in Baltimore.

Tyra Announces Weave-Free ANTM Season

by Svelte on Aug 19, 2009 23:50   0  Comments   Share

When I read about Tyra's proclaimation of going weave-free for the upcoming season of America's Next Top Model and her talk show I raised my eyebrow. I was like "huh" why? I guess with all the interesting hair cuts lately, Tyra wants to get in on it in her own way. I must say, I may watch her show on September 8th to see what shape her natural hair is in :)

Will you watch?

New Line Coming to Kohls this Fall: LC by Lauren Conrad

by Svelte on Aug 19, 2009 14:46   0  Comments   Share

I have to admit when The Hills star Lauren Conrad put her "Lauren Conrad Collection" clothing line on hold I scoffed. I thought, yep, there goes another "celebrity" fashion line. I also have to admit that while I like her, I wasn't crazy about her clothes, wasn't impressed by what I saw online, and it was ridiculously. Now, she is coming back with the "LC by Lauren Conrad" line for Kohls that will range in price from $20-$60. I hope she listened to her fans and critics and will put out a cuter and more fashionable pieces.

Watch her talk about the new line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw81hqtDUOM

Harvard University's New Clothing Line - Did you hear about this?

by Svelte on Aug 8, 2009 00:39   4  Comments   Share

A girlfriend of mine sent me this and I actually have to agree with Perez...why??

harvardyard.jpg

Now this is a first. Harvard (yes, that Harvard) is launching a contemporary menswear line called Harvard Yard

The university just signed a ten-year licensing deal with Wearwolf Group, a major clothing manufacturer.

The clothes won't say "Harvard University" on them or don the schools colors except in the fine details (think crimson buttonholes) as they aren't geared toward their own students, but a larger contemporary male demographic.

The line, which will range in price from $165 for pants to $495 for sport coats, was inspired by photos of students lounging in Harvard Yard in the '60s.

John Fowler, creative director for the line, says "it's a style that has become current again and not just with the American consumer.  We think Harvard Yard will have global appeal."

This is all fine and well, but there is one lingering question… why???

Summer 2009 - Romper's Delight

by Svelte on Aug 7, 2009 22:20   1  Comments   Share

It has been a romper-fest this summer with everything from African-inspired prints, to silks, to denim. This trend definitely made a comeback in a huge way and I dont think it is going anywhere. I am a huge fan personally and I think it adds great versatility to your wardrobe and can work for day or night look.

Trousers Done Sexy

by Svelte on Aug 5, 2009 02:58   1  Comments   Share

As any fashionista will tell you, the menswear inspired look can be incredibly sexy. Most of the looks I have seen over the past few months though have been full on suits. Below are some of my favorite looks, where the trousers are feminine, drape beautifully, and really inspire me to emulate the look.

Would you wear this?

Gaga Goes Gaga for Fashion

by Svelte on Aug 1, 2009 12:49   0  Comments   Share

One really good way to seek attention is to be daring with fashion. Numerous stars before her have done the same thing. However, as outrageous as some of her looks may be, I'm not particularly shocked or tickled by them. If the point is for shock-value, I think our society has evolved to where nothing is surpising anymore.

Nonetheless, I do like the fact that she commits 100% to every look and really does seem comfortable in her own skin.
