NYC Socialite Tinsley Mortimer Makes her Debut on "Silver-Spoon-Television"

by Jerry Paige on March 10, 2010 21:17   0  Comments   Share

Tinsley Mortimer stands out amongst a group of socialites as probably the most well known in CW's new reality show, High Society which debuted on March 10th.

Known for mingling in the upper echelons of society in New York, Mortimer has a line of handbags, her own clothing line--Riccime by Tinsley Mortimer, and is involved in branding and design projects for condominium development.

Throw in a marriage to the well-to-do great-grandson of a former president of Standard Oil and you have a bonafide, well rounded Manhattan Socialite. Although her marriage to Topper Mortimer has ended in divorce, the situation bodes well for the drama-factor of her new reality TV show.

The show features a handful of other Manhattan socialties, with all the usual players in blueblood reality TV, the "vip's" and the "vip-by-associations". The hopefuls in the latter category usually tend to be a lot more vicious than their better acknowledged counterparts.

Keep an eye out for "N"-word wielding Jules Kirby a friend of Tinsley Mortimer and the flamboyant stylist and alleged kleptomaniac, Paul Johnson Calderon. Also featured is a real life German Prince named Casimir from the royal family...of Germany?

Hey, at least we get to catch a glimpse of New York nightlife in the background.

Quo Nightclub Owner Attempts to Sniff Cocaine Off Waitress's Fanny, Gets Sued

by Jerry Paige on March 8, 2010 03:16   1  Comments   Share

There are many perks that come with owning a nightclub, sadly none of which involve snorting cocaine off a waitress's derriere. Gary Malhotra -- owner of Quo nightclub in Manhattan learned that the hard way after forcefully trying to solicit the compliance of one her employees in his ass-inine fantasy.

The 24 year old waitress Nicole Salama said after vehemently refusing to allow Malhotra to do drugs off her tush, he grabbed her breast and said "Ok, off your [breast] then".

"No!" Salama replied. "I really don't want to. I want to leave right now. I want to go right now!"

In the end she was unable to stop Malhotra from doing a line off her shoulder, after which she reported the incident to the police. Gary Malhotra is currently being sued for $3.5 million and will most likely be the butt of many jokes to come.

The Caipirhina - Another Beautiful Gift, From Brazil to the World

by Jerry Paige on December 17, 2009 08:08   31  Comments   Share

My first memorable encounter with Caiprhinas came courtesy of a bartender I dated while living in Europe who ushered me into her little world behind the bar by treating me to a Caipirhina. The fusion of cachaça, made with fermented sugar cane juice and chunks of muddled lime worked wonders for my taste buds. That relationship lasted only a little longer than the contents of that glass did, but I was hooked - to Caipirhinas. My second encounter was not so pleasant, I walked to a bar in Jersey City and clearly asked the bartender for a Caipirhina to which he responded with an utter look of befuddlement. "What's in it?", he asked.

"I'm still amazed how challenging it is for people to say caipirinha and cachaça," says Steve Luttmann, the founder of Leblon Cachaça, one of the new boutique brands that have been making inroads in the U.S. in recent years. (Don't be one of those people. Say kye-peer-EEN-yah and ka-SHAH-sa.) Luttmann cites a study by BuzzBack Market Research in New York indicating that awareness in the U.S. of the caipirinha among cocktail drinkers is 30%, compared with 85% for the mojito, the caipirinha's closest cousin.

You're missing out, America. The drink comes with round ice cubes mingled with shaggy slices of freshly muddled lime inside a pear-colored liquid. A fat lime wheel served as garnish. The concoction smells rich and earthy with overtones of burnt sweetness. The taste is a revelation: a silky mixture of sweet and sour, with bitter notes balanced by an arresting freshness. It hits your tongue with smooth precision and burns its way down your chest.

The Sexy Bartender Chronicles - Danielle's Tips for Guys in Groups on How to Meet More Women

by Jerry Paige on December 16, 2009 03:04   8  Comments   Share

When you and your boys go out to the clubs in a group it's understandable that your team is likely to be as strong as the weakest member on the roster. So if one of your team members is consistently attracting bad "chi" towards the rest of the group, Danielle has the perfect strategy to strengthen your offense.

She explains,  “First, split a bottle of vodka with your boys. Trust me, it’s cheaper than buying individual drinks all night. Now the important part: Don’t take your bottle service to some table. Instead, stay at the bar and gather there. Tables by design cut you off from the women you want to meet! At the bar, you can ask any group of girls that steps up to the wood to join this free-booze party. If, like most guys, you walk up and ask a girl if she wants a drink, she throws up a wall. By inviting her into this fun little group, you’re no longer some schemer, but a cool host.”
